Happy Birthday Jaleo!

Hard to believe, but Jose Andres' Jaleo, which pretty much introduced the notion of tapas and small plates to DC palates and beyond, is celebrating its 15th anniversary in April. Lots of cool events are planned surrounding the birthday, including a wine and tapas pairing:

A highlight of the celebration, 15 Tastes of Spain is an exclusive wine tasting being held on April 28th at 6:30 PM at Jaleo, located at 480 7th Street, NW. Inspired by the 15th anniversary, Jaleo’s culinary team has created a unique tasting of eight exceptional wines with seven of Jaleo’s premiere tapas.

José Andrés and Rob Wilder will be on hand to welcome guests to this intimate event and THINKfoodGROUP’s Antoni Yelamos will share the unique stories behind the premium wines that will be featured, including Vinicola Hidalgo Amontillado Viejo sherry, 2003 Torres Milmanda (Penedes), 1995 Cune Viña Real Gran Reserva (Rioja) and 1999 Costers del Siurana Dolc de L'Obac (Priorat).

After the tasting, attendees will be treated to samples of Jamon Iberico, yogurt sperification, erizo with piparrana, braised veal cheeks, artisanal Spanish cheeses and more. Space is limited for this festive event and participation is priced at $75 per person (tax and gratuity not included). Guests should call (202) 628-7949 to reserve.
