Sparkling wine dinner at Tallula

On December 8, 2009, at 7 PM, Arlington's Tallula will host a special wine dinner in its intimate 15-seat wine room to showcase sparkling wines from around the world. Priced at $60 per person before tax and gratuity, the four-course dinner will pair the wines with dishes created especially for the occasion by Executive Chef Barry Koslow.

The suckling pig/sparkling Shiraz course sounds particularly mouth-watering. I love sipping the gorgeously-hued sparkling Shiraz around the holidays--and it's fun to surprise those who have never tried it, as it's unexpectedly dry, just like an effervescent cousin of the Down Under signature red varietal.    All the featured wines will be available for purchase at the event. The complete dinner menu with wine pairings is listed below.     Amuse Bouche NV Chartogne-Taillet Champagne, France   First Course Sablefish en Papillotte, Chinese broccoli, abalone mushrooms, pickled radish, soy and sake butter Domaine des Baumard, Cremant de Loire, France   Second Course Eco friendly Farm’s Suckling Pig Porchetta, braised green cabbage with guanciale, glazed turnips, sour cherry sauce Majella Sparkling Shiraz, Coonawarra, Australia   Third Course Selles-sur-Cher, dark fruit bread, frisee, port reduction Elio Perrone “Bigaro,” Piedmont, Italy   Mignardises Doughnuts, waffles, and chocolates
