Featured Cocktail: Rive Gauche Rickey
It's July, which means it's Rickey Month in D.C., and mixologists all over the city are creating inventive riffs on our native cocktail, which Derek Brown fittingly termed "air conditioning in a glass." Here is one of my favorites from a few years ago, courtesy of mixologist Chantal Tseng of The Tabard Inn. It's aromatic, pretty and effervescent.
Rive Gauche Rickey 1 1/4 oz. Aviation Gin 3/4 oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur 1/3 of a freshly squeezed lime Charles de Fere Blanc de Blancs Lavender sprig, for garnish
Add gin, St. Germain and lime to a cocktail shaker. Add ice, and shake until chilled. Strain into a chilled Champagne flute. Top with sparkling wine, and garnish with a fresh lavender sprig.
