Featured Wine: 2011 Kir-Yianni Akakies
When I was in Greece last year, I only tried one sparkling wine, the Amalia Brut made from aromatic, floral Moschofilero grapes. Last week at Kapnos in D.C., I had the chance taste the 2011 Kir-Yanni Akakies sparkling rose. Vivid pink with blue undertones, the wine is bursting with juicy strawberry and cherry aromas. On the palate, it's fresh and vibrant, with lemon and red fruit. It pairs nicely with ceviches, sushi, shellfish, or a patio chair and a deck.
